1990-2019: 30 years of Ravenna Festival!
Founded by Cristina Mazzavillani Muti who wanted her city at the center of those magnificent worlds that are music and dance. Maestro Riccardo Muti’s wife, is strongly committed and since 1995 takes care of workshops dedicated to lyric for young people and since 1997 is promoter of "Le Vie dell’Amicizia", lay pilgrimages led by Maestro Muti acts to reconnect ancient ties with cities touched by serious events and symbolic places in the world.
Ravenna Festival has always been characterized by a program full of expressive art of the highest level: symphonic music, chamber music, opera, but also jazz, ethnic music, blues, theatrical performances, musicals, ballet, modern dance. The peculiarity of this event is that the whole city becomes a stage: the shows are held in the Basilicas, in the squares, at the beach and in the centuries-old pine forest, narrated by Dante Alighieri in the Divina Commedia. The wonderful and unique UNESCO sites of Ravenna are the backdrop and carry the emotions of the public to the top. Over the years the Festival has tackled social issues such as the Great War and the Russian Revolution, and paid tribute to person like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King.
Saturday, January 26th, the 2019 program will be presented in Ravenna and will surely be another fantastic edition that will consecrate the city as a world destination for art and culture.
